Bela Silva

Bela Silva was born in Lisbon, in 1966. She studied at: both the Porto and the Lisbon Fine Arts Schools; at AR.CO, in Lisbon; at Norwich Fine Arts in the UK; and obtained a master's degree in Art, at School of The Art Institute of Chicago in the USA.

She lived in New York, where she illustrated articles for the New York Times, and already had the opportunity to exhibit in Portugal, Spain, France, Brazil, China and Japan. She currently lives between Lisbon and Brussels.

In Portugal, she exhibited, for example, at the National Tile Museum (Museu do Azulejo), Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, National Museum of Ancient Art and Palácio da Ajuda.

Bela Silva has created several public art pieces, produced at Viúva Lamego, namely tile panels for the Alvalade subway station in Lisbon, panels for the Sakai Cultural Center’s gardens in Japan and panels for the João de Deus School in the Azores Islands.
